As part of the Connecting Victoria Program, a number of premises in your area have been selected to be included in a Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) technology switch. As part of the technology switch, technicians will be required to install equipment within the boundary of your property.

How does the Connecting Victoria Program (CVP) affect me?

As part of the Connecting Victoria Program, a number of premises in your area have been selected to be included in a Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) technology switch.

This project is supported by funding from the Connecting Victoria Program.

If I have received a card and/or am in an area scheduled for upgrade, what can I expect to happen?

Stage 1 – Survey

  • We will be out in your street assessing the existing telecommunications network, testing all 
  • Our team will need to access your front yard in order to look at your current phone connection. All team members will be clearly identified. 
  • Documentation will be posted to you outlining our activities.
  • It is important that we have your correct contact details to keep you up to date and notify you of our works. Please click HERE to register your details.

Stage 2 – Construction

  • Installation of equipment, both internal and external, at your home or business
  • Additional pits and hauling of cable through underground pipes or on existing overhead power poles
  • Digging and/or drilling under footpaths, on nature strips and private property, where necessary

Stage 3 – Connection

Once the equipment has been installed and tested, you will be notified to contact your Retail Service Provider (RSP) to make the switch to your new fibre connection.
What equipment will be installed at my house or business?

There will be equipment installed both inside and on the outside of your premises. The diagram below indicates the location and dimensions of the equipment. 

In some instances, we may need to fix, replace, or install the lead-in conduit from the Council nature strip to the side of your dwelling. If necessary, this will be discussed with you prior to works commencing.

Will I need to be at home for the installation to take place?

Yes, Ventia will arrange a suitable time with you to install the internal equipment. External equipment can take place while you are not at home, however, all equipment is usually installed on the one day. 

In some instances, we may need to fix, replace, or install the lead-in conduit from the Council nature strip to the side of your dwelling. If necessary, this will be discussed with you prior to works commencing.

How long will it take to install the equipment?

Approximately three hours depending on the location of the equipment and whether any civil activities need to take place. In some instances, we may need to fix, replace, or install the lead-in conduit from the Council nature strip to the side of your dwelling. If necessary, this will be discussed with you prior to works commencing.

Will I be able to connect immediately following the equipment being installed?

No, you will receive notification from nbn as to when you are able to contact your Retail Service Provide (RSP) to switch to your Fibre to the Premise connection.

Will there be any costs associated with the installation?

There is no cost for the equipment installation and the nbn equipment itself. There may be costs associated with your Retail Service Provider (RSP) to connect you to their service. This may vary between RSP’s and the plans that they offer.
