National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

2023's National Reconciliation Week theme is Be a Voice for Generations. It urges all Australians to use our power and our  words to create a better, more just Australia for all of us.

As part of our commitment in enhancing reconciliation among Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, it is important for Ventia to build successful relationships with Indigenous Australians and to recognise and respect the local customary needs of Indigenous people and their communities.

Reconciliation reflections

We sat down with some of our people at the 2023 Santos Aboriginal Power Cup that Ventia has proudly supported for 12 years, to explore what the theme Be a Voice for Generations means to them.

Hear from Group CEO - Dean Banks, Regional Indigenous Manager TRECCA, Ventia - Bessie Fredberg, Community Programs Manager Aboriginal, Port Adelaide Football Club - Braedon Talbot, and General Manager Indigenous Participation TRECCA, Ventia - Byron Davis.

Be a voice for generations captures the heart and soul of every generation for our mob...We've got to be bold and brave about it, but also have empathy. - Byron Davis

On Country experience at Yellomundee (Yarramundi)

“Be patient, be humble, be respectful,” says Uncle Lex, a Warmuli man of the Darug Nation who shared his knowledge, stories and country with some of our Sydney Transport team in the beautiful bushland of Yellomundee.

Hear from some of our people about the day and what they learnt.
