At Ventia, our commitment to making a positive impact on our communities is at the heart of everything we do.

Winning the grand prize in Firstflex’s nationwide ‘Go for Gold’ competition was more than just a victory for us - it was a chance to give back to the communities that we call home. This achievement provided our team with a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact where it matters most.

Their nationwide promotion awarded a $50,000 gold bar to one lucky customer, and Ventia’s ENR team secured the winning ticket. In line with our values, we donated its full value to ten New Zealand charities.

With input from Ventia’s South Island teams, 200 team members participated in the selection process to determine which ten charities would receive a $5,000 donation each.

We saw this as a great opportunity to support causes that matter to us and our local communities

said Jim Hastie, Ventia’s Project Director in the South Island. “It was an incredible team effort to choose the charities, and we’re thrilled to be able to make a positive impact.”

The following charities each received a $5,000 donation:

  • Westpac Rescue Helicopter (Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue)
  • Child Cancer Foundation
  • KidsCan
  • St John (Hato Hone)
  • SPCA
  • Mental Health Foundation
  • Heart Foundation
  • Dogwatch
  • Breast Cancer Foundation NZ
  • Youthline

These organisations provide vital support and services to communities across New Zealand, from emergency rescue operations and healthcare to child welfare, mental health, and animal protection. By contributing to these causes, Ventia is reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and making a tangible difference where it’s needed most.

These organisations do incredible work for our communities. We’re proud to help them continue making a positive difference in Aotearoa

says General Manager of Energy, Networks and Renewables, Craig MacDonald.

We extend a special thanks to the team at Firstflex for making this possible.
