Three Ventia wāhine from our Energy, Networks and Renewables team have been recognised at the 2026 National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Excellence Awards, celebrating the achievements of women across Aotearoa’s construction sector.

Charlotte Valentine-Ah Tune, Contract Manager, took home the Excellence in Site Operational Management – Site/Field award, recognising her outstanding leadership and contribution to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects. Fellow Ventia team members Andree James, National Workforce Development Manager, and Karyn McLachlan, Central Lines Operations Manager, were also recognised as finalists in the Rising Star – Office and Outstanding Leader of the Year – Office categories respectively.

This award is a testament to her dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence.

Ventia General Manager of Energy, Networks and Renewables Craig MacDonald said the recognition reflects both the calibre of our people and the impact they are having across the business and the communities we serve.

“Charlotte has played a key role in our East Tāmaki operations, safely delivering critical infrastructure for our Auckland customers. This award is a testament to her dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence."

Andree has been instrumental in strengthening our workforce capability and championing diversity across our teams, while Karyn is a highly respected leader whose ability to build strong teams and foster a positive culture has supported the growth of our lines business across the lower and central North Island.

“It’s fantastic to see Charlotte recognised with a national award and to have Andree and Karyn acknowledged as finalists at an industry level. Their leadership and contribution reflect the strength of talent within Ventia and the important role wāhine are playing in shaping the future of our sector.”

The NAWIC Excellence Awards recognise those who are breaking barriers, driving progress and helping to shape a more inclusive and innovative construction industry across Aotearoa. Charlotte’s win, alongside the recognition of Andree and Karyn, highlights the significant contribution Ventia women are making across the infrastructure and construction sectors.
