As an estimator working in Ventia's Rig and Well Services business, Pooja Sharma understands how important sustainability measures are for Ventia.
Since joining Ventia less than 12 months ago, Pooja has made a significant impact in not only driving outcomes for her team and business, but Ventia as a whole.
In her regular work as an estimator, Pooja works hard to ensure Ventia is submitting competitive tenders, but it was her commitment to going beyond that saw her named as a Highly Commended finalist in the Sustainability category.
Combining her background in electrical engineering and passion for sustainability practices with her day role as an estimator, Pooja voluntarily took on additional responsibilities within the Rig and Well Services team, identifying opportunities to lower the business unit's carbon emissions.

Whilst unassuming in her nature, Pooja has used her research and estimating skills to understand the goals, prepare models, evaluate scenarios, and present results to the sustainability working group in Rig & Well Services.
With a focus on bringing innovation to drive sustainability objectives, Pooja has designed multiple solutions to lower emissions, including the use of LED lighting towers. She's also researched ways to improve the efficiency of diesel fuel, and mobile solar generators, which would lessen our reliance on diesel and lower emissions significantly.
I also really love my team; they are a great bunch of people, and you can always lean on the other estimators to help you out when things get hectic.
One experience Pooja has particularly enjoyed to date was finding new ways to deliver the message of sustainability to our team. This involved preparing posters to be presented by the lead at a workshop in Brisbane, switching her Excel spreadsheets for posters as a creative outlet.
Speaking about what she loves about her job, Pooja said: "The best part about the job is you get to work across different tenders, so everything is new: the job, our client, and their requirements.'
