"There are telco sites everywhere, not only in the city but also on remote islands, mountain summits, and the centre of the desert."

Hao Lan has learned a lot about the telecommunications industry since joining our Telecommunications Essential Services team as part of his graduate rotation earlier this year. In particular, the importance of logistics and reliability on remote telco sites and the value of helping people stay connected.

"At Ventia, it is fascinating to be involved in some cool projects alongside a talented team and experienced crew," Hao said.

I am grateful for the opportunity to connect people together in this modern world.

Keeping people connected is a key part of what our telecommunications team does, and it is something we celebrate on World Telecommunications Day.

The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide. 17 May marks the anniversary of the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention and the creation of the International Telecommunication Union.
