Across the markets in which Ventia operates, expectations of engineering and professional services partners are evolving rapidly. Customers are placing greater emphasis on certainty, and earlier engagement in project lifecycles. They expect consistent delivery that balances technical quality, commercial performance, and long‑term asset value.

For a business as large and diverse as Ventia, meeting these expectations presents both a significant challenge and a defining opportunity.

Ventia Engineering Services is undertaking a transformational multi‑year initiative - a deliberate investment in integrating, strengthening, and expanding our engineering and professional services capability to ensure we are meeting these expectations now and into the future.

This goes beyond scaling capability. It’s about how our engineering and professional services teams work together - across Ventia, with our customers, and across diverse sectors and projects.

A more integrated way of working

One of the key drivers behind this project is the opportunity to better integrate engineering with complementary professional services.

As part of this evolution, Ventia Engineering Services has been renamed Ventia Engineering and Professional Services (VEPS). The new name reflects a broader, more integrated capability - bringing together engineering, project and programme delivery, and specialist advisory services such as asset performance and sustainability.

By aligning these capabilities within a single operating model, Ventia is creating a more cohesive approach that better reflects how customers plan and deliver projects in practice.

This enables:

  • earlier involvement in project definition and decision‑making
  • greater alignment between design, delivery and operational outcomes
  • improved visibility of risk and performance across the asset lifecycle
  • more consistent project execution, regardless of sector or geography

For customers, this reduces fragmentation and provides a clearer line of sight from strategy through to delivery.

Building capability where it matters most

Engineering and professional services have long been a core capability within Ventia, supporting a wide range of customer outcomes across asset advisory, design, optimisation and delivery. As customer needs grow more complex, the demand for integrated, end-to-end engineering and professional services has never been greater.

Growth alone is not enough. To deliver consistently at scale, engineering and professional services capability must be underpinned by:

  • clear operating models and decision frameworks
  • industry-leading systems and tools
  • strong governance and quality discipline
  • teams that can work effectively across discipline and organisational boundaries

Rather than relying on individual effort or bespoke approaches, the focus is on building a repeatable, scalable model of delivery that supports both Ventia and its customers.

A key part of this approach is the deliberate integration of engineering and professional services capability within Ventia - bringing this capability together as a coordinated, enterprise‑level function, rather than distributing it across individual contracts or sectors. This creates greater consistency in how work is delivered, broadens access to capability across the business, and enables more effective knowledge sharing.

For customers, this means an engineering and professional services partner that delivers quality and continuity across projects, backed by the collective strength of a diverse national team.

Investing in systems and delivery confidence

A key element of this work is the prioritisation of the systems and processes that underpin consistent, confident delivery.

Initiatives such as the implementation of InEight as a core project delivery platform will improve consistency in project planning, cost management, and performance visibility across the business.

Alongside this, a structured refresh of operational processes and quality systems is being undertaken to ensure that:

  • expectations are clear and consistently applied,
  • lessons learned are embedded into future work,
  • delivery performance is driven by well‑defined systems common between teams, and
  • we are leveraging emerging technologies to provide more cost-effective services

Together, these changes will help ensure projects are delivered predictably and in line with agreed outcomes – building confidence for both our teams and our customers.

Supporting Ventia’s broader delivery model

Engineering and professional services within Ventia are a critical enabler of project delivery across the broader Ventia business – supporting both internal contracts and direct customer engagements.

Our model reinforces this role by ensuring engineering and professional services capability can:

  • integrate effectively with Ventia’s sector businesses,
  • support internal project delivery at scale, and
  • and contribute more directly to customer outcomes across a wider range of services

This integrated, enterprise‑level approach strengthens engineering and professional services as both a value‑add and a differentiator for Ventia. By leveraging significant in-house and partner capability, and improving integration across teams, Ventia can bring greater confidence in delivery and respond more effectively to customer needs.

A deliberate, long‑term approach

Our evolution will be phased, beginning with the foundations: leadership capacity, governance, systems and dedicated delivery capability.

Subsequent phases will scale this capability in a controlled, repeatable way – progressively moving toward a mature operating model focused on sustained performance and continuous improvement.

This phased approach reflects a deliberate choice: to build the systems first, then grow. Stability, consistency and quality take priority over rapid expansion.

Delivering better outcomes together

At its core, this is about improving how Ventia works, not only within engineering and professional services delivery, but across disciplines, functions, sectors and customer relationships.

The result is an engineering and professional services offering better equipped to support customers in delivering complex, multi-disciplinary outcomes.

Rather than changing what we do, we are focused on improving how we do it - more consistently, more collaboratively, and with greater confidence in the outcomes delivered.

As customer expectations continue to evolve, so must Ventia’s capabilities. We are committed to ensuring our engineering and professional services remain aligned to those needs - now and into the future.
