Our Cox Peninsula remediation project has won the Northern Engineering Excellence Award for Project Management.

Ventia demonstrated project management excellence against the judging criteria which included:

  • Economy – time management and fiscal prudence meant the publicly funded project was completed eight months ahead of schedule and within budget
  • Community – a 35% Australian and Torres Strait Islander participation rate against a Commonwealth target of 15%
  • Significance of work – community engagement and monitoring to preserve the site’s Aboriginal and European cultural heritage
  • World best practice – the use of three different remediation methods: Directly-heated Thermal Desorption (DTD), chemical immobilisation and disposal to an onsite containment cell.
