Ventia continues to build a strong relationship with Main Roads Western Australia (Main Roads WA) by securing the State-wide Electrical Infrastructure Services contract in conjunction with Johnson Controls, commencing in October 2018.

Through a newly-formed company known as Venture Smart Pty Ltd, we will provide planned and reactive maintenance of all Main Roads WA electrical assets across Western Australia, including street lighting, traffic signals, speed limit signs, help phones, CCTV, variable message signs, vehicle detection systems, fibre networks, bluetooth travel time units, bores and pumps, and warning signals. We will also manage the repair of damage to assets (e.g. from car accidents, storm or vandalism) and a range of electrical upgrades and capital works related to these assets.

Main Roads WA have responsibility for almost 30% of the state's total electrical assets, and are one of the largest geographically spread road agencies in the world, covering 2.5 million square kilometres.

In addition to reliable service delivery and cost savings, Venture Smart is committed to building and optimising local industry participation, including with indigenous owned companies. This will provide benefits to Main Roads WA and Western Australia more broadly, through increased local employment, skills development, technology transfer and lower service delivery costs.

It will be done in a collaborative way to ensure that we create a legacy which all participants and stakeholders can be proud of.

Ventia's Executive General Manager, Asset and Infrastructure Services Peter Handel said Ventia secured the new five-year contract because of its track record of strong service delivery, its capability in this class of assets, and its policy of localised procurement and engagement with the supply chain and other key stakeholders.

Ventia is proud to continue to build on its existing relationship with Main Roads WA, said Peter.

"Performing this work through Venture Smart with Johnson Controls will ensure the certainty of delivery that Main Roads WA are seeking.

Our tailored delivery model not only provides value for money, but capitalises on using local resources and businesses to underpin our 'buy local, live local' approach and demonstrates our commitment to the state of Western Australia.

This will be a significant project for Ventia and is a key opportunity to build upon our road maintenance presence in Western Australia.
