The Ventia Awards 2017

Award-winning Ventia teams and individuals have donated $10,000 to a variety of charities as part of recent celebrations in the Ventia Awards.

Winners of the 2017 Ventia Awards, which recognise excellence and contributions across a variety of categories, could donate funds to a charity of their choice as part of their prize.

Most opted for charities that support the community and families of the areas their projects are in, with eight charities selected.

David Whitehead, General Manager for nbn Queensland, whose team were recognised for 'Making infrastructure work for our communities' said: "We donated to Childhood Cancer Support given the team wanted to support a local charity that has direct involvement with children so we could acknowledge the great work they do."

John McManus, Project Director at the Ichthys Onshore LNG Construction site won the 'Deliver Excellence' category and chose Variety - The Children's Charity in the Northern Territory.

"We chose Variety because of its focus on and great work with the local community. Also, one of our long-term supervisors has been involved with Variety for several years so we offered our support too," John said.

The donation builds on the $83,000 the Ichthys project has already raised for Variety and will go toward helping children gain mobility and freedom, get out and about in the community, to communicate, achieve independence and increase self-esteem, and where possible, provides assistance to help them integrate into mainstream school and activities.

Other charities supported by our award-winning teams include The Salvation Army, OzHarvest, beyondblue, Diabetes Australia, Act for Kids and Angel Flight Australia.

Through supporting these charities our award-winning employees are improving the lives of those around them and the communities in which we operate.
