Ventia’s Vianet solutions are featured as part of Melbourne Knowledge Week 2018 in the Prototype Street activation, showcasing how technology could help the City of Melbourne tackle congestion issues.
As part of the activation, visitors will experience a future city streetscape by sharing the road with an automated vehicle, walking on heat-resistant pavement and trying out new technologies, like our Works Notification Trial.
Our Works Notification Trial was specifically designed to demonstrate how the City of Melbourne could utilise our Vianet technology to provide the community with real-time notifications about infrastructure works happening in the CBD.
The notifications will enable visitors and workers to avoid works areas and delays in and around the city, thus enhancing their experience and enabling the City of Melbourne to increase safety and reduce congestion on its roads and footpaths for the local community.
We are proud our Vianet technology is contributing to The Prototype Street activation which gives the public a look at how street life will change in the future.
The Space Agency, along with the Melbourne Innovation Districts partnership - City of Melbourne, the University of Melbourne and RMIT University - have developed the Prototype Street activation. It’s on a cordoned-off section of Cardigan Street (adjacent to Argyle Square) from Monday 7 to Sunday 13 May 2018.
