Wellington City Council (Council) has awarded Ventia the contract to deliver facilities management services across Wellington, commencing in February 2021.

Under the initial three-year contract, Ventia will provide centrally planned and co-ordinated facilities management services to the Council's vital infrastructure.

As New Zealand's Capital City and the third most populous urban area in New Zealand, Wellington is home to a wide range of community facilities and the Ventia team will be kept busy servicing the Council's 290 square kilometres and a population of approximately 210,400.

The contract will help to drive economic growth and job creation across Wellington, through the local procurement of a team of facilities management experts and the engagement of more than 75 specialist subcontractors.

Derek Osborn, Ventia's Group Executive of Defence and Social Infrastructure said that the contract win was another endorsement of Ventia's technology-led approach to asset management.

'This is a key contract for Ventia and is another example of our ability to deliver a quality offering in the local government sector," he said.

Ventia's New Zealand Country Manager Jim Tocher said the contract supported the wider push for environmental sustainability across the country, which is aligned with Ventia's values.

We are delighted to be part of Wellington City Council's transformation journey in best practice asset management, which is underpinned by a number of key sustainability principles that will support Wellington City Council in becoming a zero-carbon capital city by 2050.

Ventia's mobilisation team is currently working closely with the Wellington City Council Team ahead of an operational start date of 1 February, 2021.
