Sydney Harbour Bridge and harbour water with cloudy sky and Visionstream project equipment and workers

Visionstream, Australia and New Zealand's premier telecommunications provider successfully laid 750 metres of marine cable across Parramatta River today.

The 'armour plated' marine cable is part of extensive upgrades to Telstra's network supporting the current demands and expansion as part of its larger network upgrade.

Richard Kelleway, CEO Visionstream said "We're pleased with the outcome of this delicate and complex cable build, utilising our extensive experience across a range of technologies and topographies."

The cable from Drummoyne to Huntleys Point was placed using a purpose built barge, marine divers and an extensive technical crew to ensure its undersea positioning and harbour landing were exactly as planned.

Detailed marine and land surveys, stringent land access, permits and approvals were thoroughly undertaken prior to ensure the success of this complex build.

While one of our core deliverables is the building of terrestrial networks, we welcomed the challenge to undertake marine cabling for our client, and are very pleased with the results, said Mr Kelleway.

Visionstream are set to roll out more marine cable in the coming year with planned works for another marine cable under the Sydney Harbour Bridge in early 2016.
