2020 is a wrap for Ventia's Brisbane Motorway Services (BMS) team. As the deserving recipients of a number of international and national accolades across a range of areas, from Project and Risk Management, to Business Excellence, Leadership and HR, the team has extensive achievements to celebrate.

BMS took out not one, but two awards at the 2020 Australian HR Awards, which celebrate the outstanding achievements of the country's top HR leaders, companies and teams.

Our award winning team

The Motor Traffic Response team received Australian HR's Excellence Award for Best Recruitment Campaign. With the tagline "Our past is your protection", the team framed their larger purpose as grounded in safe practice and reliability, resulting in confidence and a quality journey for road users.

Kathryn Agius was recognised as Australian HR Manager of the Year. Kathryn established a business framework to provide a secure employment bridge for a mature-aged workforce, helping military and service veterans with disabilities transition into civilian work, reinstating their sense of value and confidence.

General Manager, Simon Kirkpatrick received a silver medal as Global Project Manager of the Year in the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Global Project Excellence Awards in recognition of business success created at BMS. This followed Simon's National and Queensland Project Manager of the Year Awards with the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and his recognition as a CEO of the Year Finalist in the 2020 National Outstanding Leadership Awards.

Project Manager, Danielle Buffier was also a Finalist in this year's Australian Institute Project Management's (AIPM) Achievement Awards in Queensland. Danni was nominated for her project management of Australia's largest motorway bitumen re-sheet project, which she delivered safely after replacing two Project Managers that left the project at critical times.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Coordinator, Alex Coughlan was recognised as Young Achiever of the Year at the 2020 Lendlease Employee Excellence Awards for developing an innovative smart phone app that detects compliant PPE shirts out in the field, along with an implementation system which attracted no NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) during the last third-party audit.

And finally, BMS was recognised as an ABA100 Winner of the 2020 Australian Business Award for Business Excellence and Risk Management. The Australian Business Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate the core values of business innovation, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, experience management, business sustainability, product and technology innovation.

Let's give this team a round of applause! Congratulations on a great year, BMS.
