Ventia and the NT Government are working together to deliver tailored services and support for Territory Veterans’ and their families through a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The majority of employment opportunities for Northern Territory Veterans under this new partnership will be in our Defence business, at locations across the Territory such as Larrakeyah Barracks and RAAF Base Tindal. This will see former service personnel undertaking roles such as project managers, vehicle mechanics, admin staff and ground keepers.

Executive General Manager John Rogers says this MOU aligns strongly with our commitment to Veteran employment.  “Our people are at the heart of our success. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion has been repeatedly acknowledged, including most recently winning the Northern Territory Government’s Veteran Employer of the Year Award and being formally recgonised as a Veteran Employer of Choice through the Department of Veteran Affairs, John says.

The wealth of knowledge that Veterans bring to the private sector is highly valued at Ventia. We seek to employ and utilise the skills they bring to our Defence clients and team.

On average, 250 Australian Defence Force Personnel transition out of the military while posted in the Territory each year.  To help keep Veterans in the Territory, the Government established Operation Thrive to improve access to employment opportunities and support health and wellbeing .

So far it has also delivered GP veteran health training, #CheckYourMates campaigns, and a partnership between the NT Government and Soldier On to continue to enhance Soldier On’s activities in the Northern Territory.

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Brent Potter says, “Operation Thrive was launched following the NT Defence Veterans Strategy in 2023 and today’s MoU signing is a major accomplishment supported by $2.55 million investment.”
