Ventia's TRACE employee Sandra Wedding has long been respected and admired by her colleagues for her kind nature, detail-oriented approach and commitment to her work; and these important qualities have now also been formally recognised with an INPEX International Women's Day (IWD) award.

As a Cost Engineer working for INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG in Darwin, Sandra is an integral part of the team. She uses her skills and experience to estimate job costs, prepare budgets, track costs, develop reports and assists in keeping project scopes on budget.

Sandra says she loves her role with Ventia's TRACE team and appreciates the variety and interesting work provided on a major facility like Ichthys LNG.

I love what I do and the people I work with.

"The culture with both TRACE and INPEX is really good; we all work very well together to get the job done," said Sandra.

Trained as an Industrial Engineer, Sandra says she would love to see more women investigate this stream of Engineering as a career, saying it offers so many opportunities and choices.

Industrial Engineering offers the best of both worlds, working across engineering and business, to create processes that increase efficiency and management control systems.

Although a lesser-known engineering discipline in Australia, Sandra is inspired by the concept that "Engineers make things, and Industrial Engineers make things better."

Originally from the Philippines, Sandra now calls Darwin home and has become deeply involved in her community, church, and fundraising for charity, which was also recognised in the award.

Nominating her for the award, Sandra's manager said: "Her no fuss, quietly spoken, but detailed approach promotes respect within the team for her. The way she supports the team is always consistent, respectful and she is one of the most patient people I know.'

Her personal attributes combined with her technical ability and her ability to maintain her calm while still delivering in a timely fashion to the highest of standards makes her a key asset in the Implementation Team.
