Ventia has been awarded the new iteration of the Far North District Council Road Maintenance and Renewal Services Contract for the southern region, continuing its long‑standing partnership with Council to support a safer, more resilient local roading network.
The contract forms part of Far North District Council’s move to a more proactive approach to road maintenance and renewals, designed to improve network reliability and resilience across the district. Under the new arrangements, Ventia will be responsible for the southern section of the network, which covers approximately 1,200 kilometres of local roads.
The contract was awarded following a competitive tender process that ran from September to November 2025. Far North District Council noted that Ventia demonstrated a strong understanding of local road conditions, the requirements of the new proactive maintenance model, and the importance of working closely with local subcontractors and communities.
Far North District Council’s new model builds on the success of pilot initiatives such as ‘Find and Fix’ patrols and a Maintenance Intervention Strategy ranking system, with a focus on identifying and addressing issues earlier to reduce long‑term impacts on the network.
