Supporting and engaging with the communities in which we work is core to our purpose and woven throughout everything we do.

At Ventia, being community focused is central to our approach to sustainability. We set out to enable and grow the communities in which we work, support local economies and their people, and build long-term relationships to ensure our impact is positive and our legacy is lasting.

We approach our work with respect for local people, land and environment, and the traditions that came before us. We do this not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because it means there will be healthy, thriving communities for generations to come.

Supporting communities through our Community Grants Program

Our Community Grants Program has supported more than 300 community groups in building regional strength and sustainability by promoting social activity, and creating a better future for people living in regions where Ventia operates.

The program offers grants of up to $2,000 to successful applicants, to help provide opportunities and make a positive difference in these communities.

Applications are now closed. Our community grants will open again in 2024.

Applications that will be positively considered for grant funding will:

be submitted on behalf of registered organisations, associations or charitable institutions including but not limited to community groups, schools, sporting clubs, not-for-profits, and charities
demonstrate support of education and training, environment, health, Indigenous, safety or youth engagement activities
enhance and improve the capability of the organisation through programs, infrastructure, or equipment
demonstrate lasting benefits to the community
be aligned with Ventia’s values and fall within the regional areas in which Ventia operates
create awareness and positivity for the Ventia brand and recognise Ventia’s support.

In 2023, Ventia will be considering applications from community groups in Australia including Toowoomba & Darling Downs, Surat Basin, Gladstone, Roxby Downs, Pilbara, Darwin & the Top End and Northland in New Zealand.

There are some exclusions from the program where applications will not be considered:

individual applications including those seeking support for activities such as academic studies or travel
requests relating to political organisations or campaigns
support for religious organisations for religious benefit
retrospective activities
applications received after 31 July 2023
Government and local councils.

The new greenhouse allows the kindergartens to grow fruit and vegetables and maintain a worm farm to support the learning of valuable, energy-efficient and environmental life skills, from a very early age.

The grant was used to purchase important diagnostic equipment to strengthen the outreach program currently supporting Aboriginal children and their families in the Pilbara, Goldfields, Kimberley and South West regions of Western Australia. Our focus is on early detection of middle ear disease, and its potential life-long effects on Aboriginal and at-risk children living in remote areas of Western Australia.

The additional lighting will allow our club to run night race meets which will attract more spectators and members to the club

Heath Mynhart, President - Desert Dirt Kart Club

Ashburton Little Athletics Centre is a newly established athletics centre for children based in Tom Price. We focus on developing athletic skills in both track and field. The new line marking machine will greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to prepare our running track and throwing sectors with line marking.

The grants we received from Ventia allows schools to select brand-new books suitable for the needs of their students and their curriculum. With the $12,000 we have been given by Ventia, we can provide a total of approximately 1,200 books across six schools in areas that Ventia operates, giving 2,990 students access to a much-needed updated library offering.

Hear and Say Darling Downs received a community grant to purchase clinical resources, toys and equipment that assist in delivering speech, language, social and other health development outcomes for children with hearing loss in the region. This means children can now be treated within the region, rather than having to travel further afield.

Spring has sprung so it is time for us to top up our raised gardens with soil and plant vegetables, fruit trees and herbs. It is such a valuable learning experience for children learning to grow food from scratch and we could not have done it without the support of Ventia.

Our organisation provides leadership, guidance and support to the Indigenous communities of South West Queensland through sport, physical activities and recreation. The Western Rivers Cup is South West Queensland’s only Indigenous regional cricket carnival encouraging men, women and their families to be active and healthy while enjoying a good yarn with friends, fellow competitors and spectators.
