At Ventia, we’re committed to upholding a culture of Fairness, Inclusion, and Respect (FIR) —we understand the importance of everyone feeling safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.

FIR is central to how we attract great talent, deliver stronger outcomes for customers, and create lasting value in the communities where we operate.

FIR are the principles that reflect our commitment to creating a culture where everyone feels safe, valued and able to succeed, regardless of age, cultural heritage, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, marital or family status, religious belief, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or lived experience. The principles guide how we lead, work, hire, engage and make decisions.

Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) moves us beyond traditional Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) approaches by embedding FIR in everyday behaviours, decisions and systems

Our commitment to building a Fair, Inclusive and Respectful workplace is a key pillar of Ventia’s People Strategy.  Senior leaders are responsible for driving FIR by setting expectations, modelling inclusive behaviour and ensuring FIR principles are integrated into business decisions. Key metrics, including workforce representation, workplace culture and social value generated for society, will be tracked and used to drive improvements.

Gender Diversity

Gender balance across our organisation is integral to our success. Through a range of initiatives, we aim to create a more inclusive environment that benefits all genders, encourages collaboration, and drives innovation. Our approach ensures that everyone is valued, respected and supported in achieving their fullest potential.

At Ventia we celebrate the incredible contributions of our wahine across Aotearoa, who play a vital role in shaping our success and driving positive change in the communities we serve. Through initiatives like our WOVEN (Women of Ventia Empowered Network) program, we are committed to empowering our wahine by providing opportunities for growth, leadership, and connection.

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) gender pay gap is an important measure and annual publication driven by the Australian Government.

We remain focused on increasing the number of women across all levels of our business, and we have committed to achieving 40% in executive leadership and women in senior management by 2030, as part of our HESTA 40:40 commitment.

Indigenous engagement

The Ventia Reconciliation Action Plan outlines our commitment to increasing cultural and historical awareness and building our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities and organisations.

In 2009, Broadspectrum was the first services business in Australia to launch a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). In 2023, Reconciliation Australia endorsed our latest RAP, highlighting our ongoing commitment to Indigenous Participation and reconciliation.

Through our RAP we aim to create and support equitable outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples by building strong relationships, respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in all of our activities, and creating meaningful opportunities. Our actions are guided by the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to preserve and protect cultures and customs.

Pride

At Ventia, our diversity and inclusion approach has a focus on the engagement of the LGBTTQIA+ community across Australia and New Zealand.  Through awareness training for our employees, engagement with organisations like Rainbow Tick in New Zealand and Pride in Diversity in Australia, and robust policies and standards, we are committed to creating an environment where all our people can feel safe enough to bring their whole selves to work

Since December 2022, our New Zealand business has been accredited with the Rainbow Tick.

The Rainbow Tick is a certification mark for organisations that complete a Diversity & Inclusion assessment process. The certification process tests whether a workplace understands and welcomes sexual and gender diversity.

Veterans and Defence Families

We’re committed to the ongoing employment and support of Defence personnel both past and present, and their families through our Veteran and Defence Family Member Program.

Our goal is to be the Defence industry employer of choice for Veterans, Reservists and their family members through the creation of a safe, supportive and flexible working environment for all.
