Future-proof processing – and not just for soils

Powered by our considerable collective capabilities, EarthSure’s contaminated soil and hazardous waste processing facility delivers the next generation in treatment solutions. The facility is licensed to treat a wide range of hazardous materials generated by civil and environmental remediation projects, for industrial, commercial, utility, manufacturing, government and defence sectors for beneficial reuse where it is viable to do so.

EarthSure is your one-stop-solution for sustainable processing of contaminated soil and hazardous wastes and Victoria’s only facility licensed to accept Category B prescribed industrial waste. We are the only facility in Melbourne also licenced to accept N160 stabilised/immobilised wastes, such as heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury) and PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

The future of waste treatment, today

Earthsure’s advanced thermal desorption plant utilises a unique direct heat treatment process to comprehensively treat a larger variety of substances found in soils and industrial and hazardous wastes.

Thermal Desorption – How It Works
  • 1. Contaminated Soil if feed into the process
  • 2. The soil is heated to temperatures sufficient to “desorb” the contaminants to the gas phase
  • 3. The soil is cooled in the pugmill, where treated soil is produced (4)
  • The Feed is sampled at (F) and the product at (T) for Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • 4. Larger airborne particulates are collected (and recombined with the parent soil, in the pugmill (3))
  • 5. The contaminants are converted to CO2, steam and acid gases in the thermal oxidiser
  • 6. The gases are rapidly quenched – and important step in emission control
  • The fine particulates are removed in the baghouse (and recombined with the parent soil, in the pugmill (3))
  • 7. The acid gases are Neutralised in the scrubber (forming small amounts of salts/fertilisers, which are recombined with the parent soil, in the pugmill (3))
  • The emissions are continuously monitored at (S)

While thermal treatment is a viable, cost-effective methodology for dealing with organic contaminants, it is important to consider the impacts of inorganic co-contaminants, which require additional treatment. EarthSure offers a combined thermal treatment plus immobilisation for co-contaminated material.
