Around 1,200 people are killed and another 44,000 seriously injured on Australian roads every year. These numbers are shocking, but they're also preventable if Australians choose to 'drive so others survive'.

As part of National Road Safety Week, Ventia delivered a campaign designed to improve driver behaviour and reduce road incidents.

Keeping drivers moving and roads hazard-free

Our Road Asset Management Contract (RAMC) services more than 3,000 lane kilometres of roadway along Queensland's south coast, spanning the council areas of Scenic Rim, Logan City and Gold Coast City.

We've delivered hundreds of routine and improvement works, creating a safer and more serviceable network for all road users.

With over 28 road improvement and pedestrian safety projects delivered in the first year of the contract, the team is keeping our client's customers moving and their roads hazard-free — an outcome we're committed to for the long-term as we engage with the next generation of Australian road users.

How you drive keeps us alive

At Ventia, we know that education, particularly early education, is key to influencing road user behaviour around roadworks. That's why we partnered with National Road Safety Week organisers to deliver a campaign for school children across South East Queensland with a simple message: how you drive keeps us alive

Educating young drivers to protect road users

The campaign targeted Australia's future drivers to influence their behaviour and help keep them safe on our roads. Traffic injury is the biggest killer of Australian children under 15 and the second-biggest killer of all Australians aged between 15 and 24.

RAMC Program Manager Andrew Spence says:

This campaign benefits our road-workers, the community and our clients in the long-term, as we continue to educate young drivers, improve behaviours and ultimately reduce incidents."
