The New Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia is set to be the most technologically advanced health facility in the country, showcasing leading integrated communications technology. Using the latest in smart technology will significantly increase clinician-patient time and reduce the amount of time spent on menial and administrative tasks.
We are proud our telecommunications business, Visionstream, was awarded the contract to deliver a significant portion of the innovative design and installation of the information and communications technology (ICT) in this facility.
Working as part of a broader integrated design and construct team, we designed, installed and commissioned key components of the next-generation ICT infrastructure. This included:
- a high availability ICT network infrastructure comprising all core, distribution, edge switching and wireless access points throughout the facility; from bedside to staff work areas
- the IP PABX which delivers a unified communications system
- a wireless real-time location system for patient and equipment tracking to room based level accuracy
- a deeply integrated ICT network supporting a wide range of hospital activities including all operational data and voice services, meal ordering by patients and medical imaging.
We designed the ICT network for considerable capacity, scalability and expandability to adapt to future changes.
Visionstream brings over 20 years of industry experience in designing and completing some of the country’s largest communications networks across a wide range of fixed and wireless technologies. The breadth of our services and our ability to scale means we can provide any organisation with a complete turn-key approach to ICT services, reducing whole-of-life project costs.
