Ventia provides a 24/7 managed electronic monitoring (EM) service for the Queensland Police Service. The service monitors people who have been issued an EM device as a condition of bail.

Due to COVID-19, demand for this service has increased, as magistrates look for alternatives to incarceration where possible.

Growth through quality service

This is only the second-ever outsourced EM service in Australia and in the first year of service, demand has grown by 300%.

Services we provide include:

  • 24/7 monitoring from our national monitoring centre
  • equipment supply management (via SCRAM Systems)
  • a local contract manager, who can appear in court as an expert witness when required.

We took over the contract with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) from an overseas supplier whose UK location hindered response times. Being locally based, we can respond quickly to incidents at a much lower price than our competitors.

The reliability of our service and expertise of our national monitoring centre enable us to provide a truly localised service that QPS can trust.

Scaling services for COVID-19

With a push for amended legislation and increasing demand due to COVID-19, we have processes in place to ensure we can continue to meet the needs of our client.

We work with our trusted vendors to ensure regular inventory monitoring and secure the device supply chain. We also negotiated with our supplier to share the cost burden of unused inventory, which means QPS has plenty of devices on hand to meet demand in high-uptake areas.

We're expecting more demand for EM services in the coming 12 months, and with robust processes and local know-how, we are confident of meeting the challenge.
