Client

Department of Transport and Planning (Vic)

Project duration

20 Years | Commenced: 2018

Description

The WRU project network consists of the most intensively trafficked heavy vehicle, arterial roads in Victoria. It contains 49 roads extending from West Melbourne to Werribee. The areas consist of industrial, commercial, rural, and residential estates.

Ventia, in partnership with Netflow, is transforming the way road maintenance is performed in Victoria by using real-time data on the condition of the network to employ maintenance strategies that minimise disruption and maximise whole-of-life value, a more efficient maintenance program can be delivered.

At the heart of this whole-of-life maintenance solution is the central Network Delivery Hub. The 24/7 hub monitors the network providing real-time performance data and a seamless interface with the Department of Transport, local councils, and other third parties to implement dynamic-scheduled works, keep communities informed, predict and prevent issues, and coordinate timely responses to incidents. Through the use of vehicle-mounted street scanning technology, drones, 3D modelling and physical inspections we are able to provide best-in-class maintenance programs at a lower cost and with minimal disruption to road users.

Infrastructure Sustainability Council Rating

WRU achieved an ‘Excellent’ Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Australia rating on 4 October 2022 (IS Rating scheme version 1.2). One of only two projects to reach the milestone of receiving an Operations rating in that year.
