The Ventia story
Following the merger of Leighton Contractors Services division, Thiess Services, and Visionstream in 2015, we’ve combined more than 30 years’ of industry knowledge and know-how in the creation of Ventia.
We provide long-term operation, maintenance, and management of critical public and private assets and infrastructure across telecommunications, transport, local government, water, power generation, electricity, gas, healthcare, education, resources and defence industries.
Our strong commitment and approach to emerging technology allows us to craft solutions for our clients that are reliable, forward-thinking and show how passionate we are about what we do.

We have an exciting future, building on the capabilities of 4,500 employees and extensive sub contractor team, delivering for clients and the community who know they can count on us to get the job done.
In 2015, following the merger of Leighton Contractors Services, Thiess Services and Visionstream – Ventia was formed as a new, independent and dedicated services company.
Together, each of these businesses has an impressive and strong history that now provides Ventia with knowledge, understanding, and expertise that goes back almost 30 years.
But let’s go back to where it all began.
1987: Thiess officially launches its environmental services business as a core offering after winning its first remediation contract in 1984.
1994: Visionstream is established as a subsidiary of Telstra, to design and build the Telstra cable TV rollout.
1996: Leighton Contractors purchases Visionstream with the aim of growing the business. Since then, Visionstream has become a leader in Australia and New Zealand’s telecommunications market.
2000: Thiess forms a joint venture with Silcar to commence work with Telstra contracts. This relationship eventually leads to Silcar joining the Thiess business. Later that year, Leighton Contractors Services is created after it wins a maintenance contract for Sydney’s Eastern Distributor – a contract we still proudly retain to this day.
2015: Creation of Ventia – a merger of Leighton Contractors Services, Thiess Services, and Visionstream.
2019: Merge of our Asset & Infrastructure Service and Utilities Services divisions to create a new division called Infrastructure Services
Today: We are currently building on our rich history by taking the best elements of our past and combining them with the strong capabilities of our 14,000+ team members to create a confident dedicated infrastructure services company with a bright future.
