On 4 April 2018, over 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 nations and territories will converge on the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018). The GC2018 games is the largest sporting event Australia will see this decade and the biggest sporting spectacular the Gold Coast has ever seen.
Our Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture (VBA JV) team has been engaged by our client to extend its current services provided through the Road Asset Management Contract (RAMC) to provide enhanced road network incident response and maintenance services. We are focused on improving traffic clearance times for spectators, games members and the public and helping keep the Gold Coast beautiful by removing graffiti, fixing fences, clearing vegetation, removing litter and more.
Our VBA JV team will have 170 boots on the ground working hard behind the scenes to help keep the increased traffic volumes moving, creating a safer and more serviceable network for all road users.
Ventia’s General Manager Transport, Asset & Infrastructure Services, Vic Hensley, encouraged the team to enjoy being a part of such a special occasion but to maintain safety as a priority at all times for themselves, their work colleagues and the general public.
“This is an exciting time for all of us, as thousands of athletes and visitors from all over the world descend on the Gold Coast for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
“Our experienced, professional incident response and maintenance staff put safety and health first and care about our people and the communities in which they work.
“We’ll be there on the ground working tirelessly to keep infrastructure working for the Gold Coast community in the lead up to, during and after Games,” Vic said.
