Every day, across Australia and New Zealand, renewable energy is powering millions of homes and businesses - and it’s growing faster than ever.

As renewable energy output gathers pace, so too are our partnerships with renewable asset owners, helping to ensure the reliability of their operations for years to come.

High quality operations and maintenance is a critical element in ensuring reliability, safety, resiliency, and energy efficiency. It’s a key part of any asset and should be considered a critical resource.

Ventia’s energy networks, water and renewables team partner with clients on grid connected projects that accelerate the path to net zero. Our expanding portfolio of renewable asset partners is ensuring that we will continue to be a key player as the energy transition gathers pace.

Australian renewables growth

Ventia has recently added the Northern Goldfields solar and battery storage facility, to our expanding Australian renewables portfolio, where we are working with TransAlta.

The Northern Goldfields solar and battery storage facility includes two solar facilities as well as a battery energy storage system and is one of the world’s largest off-grid mining solar and battery energy systems, featuring around 70,000 solar panels and delivering up to 38 megawatts of generation capacity.

The facility is designed to replace power currently generated through diesel and gas, helping to lower emissions.

Supporting delivery of renewable energy to business in NSW

Since last year, Our Australian electricity team has been supporting the delivery of renewable energy to businesses across NSW under our contract to deliver Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services at the West Wyalong solar farm.

The farm will generate 238,000 MWh of clean renewable electricity each year (equivalent to the usage of 42,034 homes annually) and will supply renewable energy to 88 of bp's service stations across NSW.

“As part of the energy transition there is huge investment in the renewable resources space like solar, wind as well as natural gas replacements such as hydrogen,” said Even Hennie who is the General Manager for Energy, Water and Renewables in Australia.

“These are exactly the kinds of assets that we are working across in our business and we’re looking to continue to grow in this space as the path to net zero accelerates.”

Supporting the energy transition across New Zealand

Ventia is no stranger to the energy transition and renewables generation across New Zealand.

“Our team already undertake work across a number of renewable projects including geothermal, hydro and wind farms around New Zealand,” said Craig MacDonald who is the General Manager for Energy Networks and Renewables across New Zealand.

“We’re also working with our existing transmission and distribution customers on their transition plans and how we continue to support those. “

Ventia have partnered with Meridian Energy in New Zealand since 2011, providing asset management services to their hydro generation.

“Each of our businesses has an opportunity to help our clients in their own version of what energy transition means for them,” said Agathe Gross, EGM Energy, Water and Renewables for Ventia
