In Australia's south-eastern states, our activities span almost all our capabilities.

We provide long-term road network maintenance contracts for major Victorian roads, including the M80 Ring Road, EastLink, Peninsula Link and the Western Road Upgrade, Victoria’s largest single investment in arterial roads to date.

Our leading asset management and maintenance services keep Victorian water and power utility companies working for communities.

We also support Defence facilities across Victoria, and we’ve played a major role in implementing and maintaining telecommunication networks across Victoria and Tasmania, supported by our Network Operations Centre (NOC)

Our Water team in Victoria were the 2020 winners of the Australian Water Association’s National Water Industry Safety Excellence Award. They received this honour in recognition of safety innovations delivered for Yarra Valley Water.

Following the devastating 2019/20 bushfires in Victoria (and NSW), our telecommunications teams worked with NBN Co and the major telecommunication carriers to rapidly restore critical connectivity to impacted communities. The team also plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability of emergency services communication in Victoria through the design, installation and operation of a dedicated mission critical emergency services communications network. With a record number of teams mobilised across several states, we supported the Australian Defence Force (ADF) across multiple operations, particularly by supplying firefighters, firefighting equipment and aircraft refuelling services. We also provided supplies to defence personnel and assisted the ADF in managing evacuations and housing displaced families. Our Defence teams also partnered with Regional Roads Victoria to reconnect communities whose roads were cut off by fire damaged trees.

We’re especially proud of the benefits we bring to Victorian and Tasmanian communities. These have been delivered through environmental rehabilitation projects such as the fishways project in Western Victoria, our remediation work on PFAS-impacted site at the former CFA training college at Fiskville, one of Australia’s most significant rehabilitation projects, as well as through investment in community-based programs such as ABCN and the parks revitalisation project as part of the nbn rollout in Tasmania.

For our industrial and resources clients in Victoria, we have long-term relationships and deep expertise. We provide shut down, inspection and maintenance activities, including for Exxon Mobil at their treatment plants at Altona and Qenos, a relationship spanning over 25 years, and for Yallourn coal mine for Energy Australia, a partnership that has spanned more than 20 years.

Some of our work in Victoria and Tasmania

Yarra Valley Water (VIC)

We help Yarra Valley Water maintain $4 billion worth of assets, including sewer networks, treatment plants and pump stations. We use technology and innovation to improve the authority’s whole-of-life asset management processes, deploying the latest tech from drones to light detection cameras to manage the corporation’s facilities and assets to the highest safety standards. Read more here.

Supporting the Australian Defence Force during bushfires (VIC)

We operate Australia’s largest private firefighting service including aviation, structural, bushfire response and hazard reduction services through our contract with the Department of Defence. During the devastating bushfires in 2019–2020, Ventia was there to support transportation of personnel and equipment, refuelling the Chinook helicopters that transported Army personnel and supplies to fire-affected areas in East Gippsland. Our firefighting capabilities also helped save the HMAS Albatross Australian Navy base in Nowra. The ADF told us that without the response from our firefighters, the base would have been lost.

Community partnership to revitalise parks (TAS)

As part of our commitment to give back to local communities, our nbn Tasmanian team partnered with West Coast Council, local staff and community members to upgrade several parks across the towns of Queenstown, Zeehan and Rosebery. The team worked tirelessly through rain, snow and sunshine to complete the works, and the revitalised parks have now been handed back to the local community for use by locals and visitors alike. Read more here.
